“ぐんま”のローマ字表記について

　群馬県では、2025年内閣告示第四号の綴り方に基づき、県名の表記に"GUNMA"というローマ字表記を使用しています。一方、外務省において都道府県名のローマ字表記にヘボン式を使用しているため、パスポートで使用するローマ字表記は"GUMMA”となっています。つまり、群馬県が使用している"GUNMA"とパスポート上の表記である"GUMMAは、同じ県名を表記しているものであり、間違いではありません。

【英訳】

The Gunma Prefectural Government, in accordance with Cabinet Notice No. 4 of 2025, uses the Romanized spelling “Gunma” for the prefectural name. Conversely, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs uses the Hepburn Romanization system for the names of prefectures; as a result, the spelling used in passports is “Gumma.” Accordingly, “Gunma” as used by Gunma Prefecture and “Gumma” as indicated in passports both refer to the same prefectural name, and neither should be regarded as incorrect.
