Adding to the Faculty of Literature that has been available since the university was opened in 1980, the Faculty of International Communication was established in April 2005.
Through the encouragement of active participation in overseas exchange programs, class guests that include people working in the front lines of big business, and thorough practical language learning, we are raising people who will be able to go far in an international society.
Akashi-juku(Extra-Curricular School)
Under Principal Yasushi Akashi, director of the Gunma Women’s University Foreign Language Institute and former UN Undersecretary General for Humanitarian Affairs, each year 10 high school students are chosen from within the prefecture to do an eight month study course.
The course aims to mould students of Gunma into people who think about things on an international scale, are prepared to speak and act confidently on the world stage and have great ambitions and energy.

The Prefectural Industrial Technology Training Schools provide human resource development that can meet the needs of local industry through the constant development of their facilities and equipment.
Also, Occupational Skills Development Centers in Maebashi, Takasaki and Ota are conducting research into local business needs, thus contributing to balanced education and training curricula, as well as implementing further education and training programmes for employees.
