To curb infections in respective areas, all prefectures are now put under the state of emergency based on a revised law enacted last month. The prefectural government is going to implement emergency measures as described below.

After reviewing the effectiveness of these measures to combat COVID-19 by using such criteria as the number of confirmed cases to date, number of hospital beds, and the outcome of the national government-appointed panel of experts, which is scheduled to meet in mid-May, the prefectural government will determine whether or not to relax these measures under a state-of-emergency.
